This Workshop is to plan our first team project, "Then and Now", a pictoral history of our local area. We propose to document the landscape, buildings and activities within our community by developing a pictorial timeline in our community over the last 100 years.
We will in teams of 2-3 members collect a set of old photographs, slides or negatives from on-line resources, museums, libraries, residents in the community, or other sources and as required using an optical scanner digitise the photographs. Due to the age of many photos, slides or negatives we may need to apply restoration techniques using Lightroom, Photoshop or other software packages to enhance the scanned images.
We will also seek information from the community and their stories to assist in analysing the photos to identify the subject, location and time of day. We will then take a current photo from the same vantage point.
We are exploring a partnership with the Claremont Museum and hope to arrange a photo exhibition inviting community members to view our collection of photos illustrating the changing landscape in our community over the last 100 years.
This project will call on some of the recent skills we are developing in landscape photography, scanning and editing photos. I encourage you to attend this workshop and participate in this community project.
