Code of Conduct

Members should adhere to the Rules of the Shed, Treat others as they would wish to be treated themselves and Have fun and enjoy them selves.

This Code of Conduct sets out the basic rights and responsibilities of Showgrounds Community Men’s Shed members (Shedders) towards each other and the public.

A fundamental attribute of the SCMS Shed is that it is a safe and supporting place for members. It is a place where members can expect to be treated in a respectful, dignified and inclusive manner at all times.

Members are expected to:

  1. Comply with the Rules and Policies as issued and amended from time to time.

  2. Be free of the influence of alcohol or other drugs whilst at the Shed, other than that permitted when attending a duly approved event at the Shed.

  3. Follow the instructions of the Supervisors or Group Leaders.

  4. Act within the Law and help maintain the good reputation of the Shed.

  5. Ensure that they have received formal training at the Shed before operating any machinery or equipment.

  6. Be aware that Shed equipment is for use only at the Shed and may not be removed without the express permission of the Group leader responsible for that equipment.

  7. Confine statements to media or via social media to personal reports or opinions. Ensure that they cannot be mistaken as official Shed announcements.

  8. Address any conflicts in the Shed without confrontation; withdraw to a quiet place and calmly discuss and hopefully resolve any issues as peers. Use the conflict resolution process set out in the Rules as a last resort
