Photography

The Showgrounds Community Men's Shed Photography Group is an enthusiastic group of men who love photography and seek to improve their photographic skills using digital photo and video cameras.

A Survey undertaken in June 2020 identified member interests in still and/or video photography, knowledge and use of editing software. The Survey also identified areas of interest in various types of photography such as landscapes, portraits, sports/action, wildlife, macro, travel, family, etc. The results of the Survey have been used to develop suitable events, activities and presentations.

The Group meets fortnightly on Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4:30pm usually followed by fellowship with a glass of wine and nibbles. Activities include:

• Presentations from knowledgeable speakers.
• Workshops to share information and develop skills:
  • to take better photos or videos.
  • editing and publishing photos in Lightroom and Photoshop; and videos using iMovie or Adobe Premier Elements.
  • bring along your laptop computer or use one of our PCs for hands-on practice.
  • we spend some time sharing information, discussing issues/problems and planning future photography projects.
• Field Trips to practice our skills.

Presentations by guest speakers will include topics such as selecting a camera, “Going beyond the Auto setting on your camera”, photo composition, editing photos/videos and organising and storing photos.

We can assist members convert photo and video formats and arrange storage onto USB drives or DVDs.

New members are welcome and encouraged to learn along with us.
