Wood Working

The main activity at the Shed covers many aspects of Woodworking. We are well equipped with woodworking machines including table saws, band saws, mitre saws, thicknesser, planer and drum sander. We also have a full array of hand and power tools with all the necessary accessories.

Members can undertake their projects using their own wood or the Shed’s recycled wood. Use of the recycled wood is provided free but members are expected to assist with collection of recycled timber when organised by the Shed.

The group also undertakes projects for community groups and the general public on a ‘fee for service’ basis. Members are expected to contribute a reasonable amount of their time at the Shed to work on these projects. We have built an interesting range of projects and it’s a great way for members to learn new skills and techniques.

We don’t seek to compete with local trades people, but we’re happy to consider any job that that can be brought into the Shed. This includes:

  • Repairs and minor restoration of furniture
  • Woodworking projects up to 100 hours of work
  • Jobs for schools, community groups and sporting clubs
