The Showgrounds Men’s Shed aims to be a welcoming space where Members can enjoy themselves in company of others.
The Wine Appreciation Group provides an excellent opportunity to join together with others who have a similar interest. It provides a forum for members to enjoy themselves while learning about all the different wines on offer.
Each meeting usually has a theme and a key part is the emphasis placed on each member to have a go and run a wine night event. That is a catalyst for them learning about the wines they present and building confidence to have an opinion.
Above all the event is meant to be about having fun while learning something new.
The group comprises over 60 members and meets on the first Tuesday on each month and sometimes on an additional day for a special Event.
The maximum number at an event is 20 as that’s all that can be poured from one bottle and everyone get a reasonable sample to taste and consider.
Since inception the group has sampled over 400 different wines from 12 countries.
