Visit to a Saw Mill

Damian Miskimmin from Fremantle Timber Traders has offered us a tour of their saw mill, wood drying and storage facilities.  There is a limit of 20 members for the tour, so please get your free tickets early.

Fremantle Timber Traders are located at 41 Wood St Fremantle where they have a large stock of timber slabs and milled boards available for sale to the public.  They mill their own logs and store the resulting timber for drying prior to sale.  We will be able to see the whole process and to discuss all aspects with Damion during the visit.

The visit will take place on Thursday 13th April commencing at 8.30am at 41 Wood St Fremantle.  Damian will have a log on the mill and will show us how he decides how to mill it and what he’s looking for to produce the best yield from the log.  We will also be able to ask questions and discuss the timber he has available and what he recommends for different projects.
