Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Travel Group

At the last meeting of the Wellbeing Group a number of Sheddies indicated a strong interest for the formation of additional new groups for the Sheddies to share their common interests. Our Shed is very fortunate in that we have a large membership who have extensive travel experience and knowledge. Together we can answer many of our travel related issues we all face and can share our experiences, both good and not so good.

This invitation is to establish if there is a sufficient cohort of members within the shed who are willing and interested participants in a new Travel Group.

This initial meeting is being held to gauge the desire of the membership for such a group, and it will require as many members as possible to attend the meeting. If you are interested in being involved, but unable to attend this meeting, please register your interest anyway by obtaining a free ticket for this Event as a way of demonstrating your interest.   We will put you on the mailing list and someone will contact you if the Travel Group gets up.

Since no Group within the Shed can operate or flourish without a capable Leadership Team, from this meeting it is hoped that several members will step forward to help lead the group through establishment and into operation.

The Travel Group Leadership Team and its members will determine the format of its meetings, the topics to be discussed, guest speakers, and presentations by members in order to inform members on travel experiences, problems, and opportunities on a regular basis.  Early indications are that Shed members are interested in learning about a wide range of countries and destinations that other Sheddies have already visited and have knowledge of, and who are willing to share that know-how.

If sufficient interest is displayed and a Leadership Group can be formed, then a formal application will be made to the Men’s Shed Committee to seek approval for the establishment of the Travel Group.  Assistance will be provided to the Leadership Group on how to establish a new group and how they can best operate so as to build a strong, active group within the Shed.

Shed drinks will be available for members to purchase inorder to encourage camaraderie and good spirits at this social event.

As a final inducement to have you come along, we shall try and get a guest speaker from a local travel agent to come and talk about the most popular tour that they organise. No guarantees, just best endevours.
