TWO PRESIDENTS  FROM HEALTH AND WELLBEING ORGANISATIONS UNITE

It isn’t often when two organisations committed to Community Health and Wellbeing unite to form a unique partnership. However, this is exactly what  happened when the President of the  Showgrounds Community Men’s Shed Mike Wiggin and Friends of Cancer Council’s President  Debra Gerreyn got together with the idea to host a joint fundraising Ladies Lunch  on April 21st in the Garden at the Men’s Shed.

The Men’s Kitchen Team were only too willing to assist and under the watchful eye of Werner Ribul, prepared a beautiful 3 course lunch and served it to 50 lucky ladies on the day.

To Quote our President, Mike Wiggin, “ It was a very successful day (admirably catered for by the Kitchen team) and got us lots of positive feedback. This type of event, utilising our Shed resources and supporting an excellent cause, is a great way to build relationships and enhance our engagement in our community. I believe this is something that is a core part of what a Men’s Shed is all about. My thanks to all those involved for the great effort and the superb results you achieved.”

A big thanks also to Austral Fisheries who donated Norwegian Salmon for the main course and IGA Wembley for providing the many of the Groceries at cost. Proceeds raised benefited the ongoing programmes offered by the Showgrounds Community Men’s Shed which supports Men’s mental and physical well-being and also to WA Cancer Council Approved Cancer Research projects.
