Men's Mental Health Morning Tea Celebration and Discussion
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
The Mens Sheds of WA have invited Sheds to celebrate Mens Health Week and your Shed will be consequently holding a Health Week Morning Tea and Health Discussion on Thursday 15th. This coincides with our usual morning tea celebrations on Thursdays, however we will have a guest speaker in the meeting room from 10:00 to hopefully discuss either podiatry issues (if we can finalise arrangements with our traveling podiatrist in time), or if failing him we will have a general question and answer session conducted by our very own Dr Michael Hart, who has agreed to be our fall back. Thank you, Michael.  The Shed will be inviting other organisations to come to celebrate Men’s Health Week and share in the camaraderie that our Shed is famous for as well as enjoy some of our famous Kitchen Group Scones, which are a Shed favourite. All members and friends are welcome to attend and we ask that if you plan on attending you register in the usual way so we can get some idea of the number of participants for catering purposes.

Beer & Bullshit Sundowner
04:00 PM – 06:00 PM
Our next Beer and Bullshit Sundowner is NOW on Wednesday 24th May from 4:00pm, due to a clash with the Health and Wellbeing talk on Wednesday 31st. I really do need to learn how to use a calendar properly. We want this Beer and Bullshit to happen this month of May and Not next month or clash with some other event Following on from our very well attended last meeting, this event will host our very own Sheddie, Dr Richard Smith who will give a presentation on his Book;  Eyes in the Sky: Surveillance for Survival – The history and future possibilities for satellite remote sensing in the WA Government. 2021. Pp. 296   Author, Richard Smith will talk on introducing the new technology of Earth Observations from Space (EOS) into Government. How these satellites gave a new and unique view of the Earth, revealing the massive human impacts driving climate change, species extinction and human flourishing. For the first time the Government has unparalleled access to the means of measuring and managing WA’s natural assets sustainably, across the whole State and surrounding oceans.  EOS proved of great value in mineral exploration but conflict between economics and ecology is limiting environmental and social applications. Duration of talk 30 minutes. Some hard copy of Imagery will be on display along with a copy of the Book. Following Richard's talk, there will be loads of time for questions, fellowship and the opportunity to socialise with your fellow Sheddies. Our concept is to provide a stimulating talk for these social gatherings which will stimulate social discourse. The Shed is endevouring to promote the social aspects and benefits of belonging to our Shed and so your Shed shall subsidise the cost of the nibbles for this event. Drinks are available at normal Shed pricing. So come along, be educated, be inquisitive, be engaged and be social by enjoying the company of your fellow Sheddies at this Sundowner and if you really want, show me how to use the calendar function in Tidyhq properly. Best regards Peter Panek President
