Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
12-05-2025 09:00 AM – 17-05-2025 03:00 PM
To maintain your Blue Dot Woodworking Accreditation you will need to, you will need to undertake a Verification of Competency (VOC) Assessment as follows. Woodworking members aged under 75 years will be assessed every 24 months Woodworking members aged 75 to 84 years will be assessed every 18 months Woodworking members older than 85 years  will be assessed every 12 months You will be assigned a simple task which shouldn’t take more than about 30 minutes. This is not a test of your craftsmanship; it is simply a demonstration that you can competently use the machinery unsupervised without endangering yourself or others.  You can book your VOC Assessment by clicking on your preferred VOC Assessment date below. The Rostered Supervisor for the day will oversee your assessment and he will either deem you "competent" or refer you to a Trainer for further assessment or training. If you choose not to do the VOC Assessment,  you will no longer be able to use the Machine Room equipment unsupervised.

20250506 Wine Appreciation Group Meeting
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:30 PM – 06:30 PM
We still have a few places remaining so dont delay, get your place now before we open the event to others. Our next Group tasting will happen on May 6th, starting at 4;30pm. This month we have a tag team comprising Les Gunn and Michael Hart. The theme is “Compare Old World to New World Wines”. You will be provided with a “New World” wine and its equivalent from elsewhere. We shouldn’t give hints as to where the wines will come from, but Les tells me he has been drawing on advice from a friend who is Italian-American and Michael Hart with his Irish background, so that may be a guide or perhaps a misdirection. As normal the number of attendees is limited to 20 and the cost for the evening is $25. Our Tastings have recently been taken up quickly, so we recommended you get in early and buy a ticket.
