Introduction To CNC Routing
09:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Do you want to learn how to design cnc projects and cut them on the cnc router? John Hassell will be running a two part introductory course for those interested in CNC routing. This course will give you some insight into cnc routing in woodworking projects. The course will be run over two consecutive Saturday morning sessionsfrom 9:00 am to noon in the Shed Meeting Room. The first Saturday session on the 15th of November  will be an introduction to VCarve Pro, the CAD software used to design cnc projects. The second Saturday session on the 22nd of November will be a practical session on the cnc  router. In the first session we will work through a simple design project in VCarve Pro step by step, and in the second session we will look at how to set up and machine a project on the cnc machine. To participate in this course you will need:- 1. Reasonable computer literacy. 2. A Windows laptop computer with a mouse to bring to the sessions. 3. A functioning copy of VCarve Pro Trial Edition installed on your laptop. This can be downloaded at:- https://www.vectric.com/free-trial/ You want VCarve Pro, not Desktop. Download as a guest. Sorry, VCarve Pro will not run on an Apple computer. 3. When you install the software it will ask you what cnc machine you are using. The Shed has a Pro V6 AR6 manufactured by Axiom. The course is free, but you will need to take a ticket as we limit numbers to the first 10 persons. See you there. John Hassell CNC Router and Laser Group

SCMS Kitchen Team Lunch - Beiyrut Lebanese Restaurant
Beiyrut Restaurant
12:00 PM – 02:00 PM
We are ready for our second Kitchen Team lunch excursion in 2025 and, this time, your trusted Egyptian chef Sami Tadros has organised a visit to "Beiyrut Lebanese Restaurant" in Tuart Hill (75 Wanneroo Road). He should know what he's talking about, this is his kind of food! We will gather at the Men's Shed after finishing the cleanup from morning tea and at 11:30am proceed to the restaurant with a few 'able' drivers providing transport. Depending on the level of interest, we may need 5-6 cars to take the other members to Tuart Hill and back. Sami has negotiated an all-in price of $45 per person which includes a set menu of appetizers, starters and mixed-meat platters with oriental rice plus any soft drinks and baklava as a sweet finish. Corkage will also be covered since we will, as usual, bring a selection of wines and beers from our shed stock - Dennis, we need your ute again to ferry the cold drinks! I hope you will be able to join us for this memorable occasion during which we will celebrate our wonderful achievements over the last 6 months!  Best regards, Werner + Michael.

To this end, the Group will be holding a meeting in the Shed meeting room on Thursday 13th of November at 11:15 am, just after the usual scones and jam and cream morning tea. See you there John Hassell Lead, CNC/Laser Group

Wellbeing - Virtual Currencies presented by Chris Douglas
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:00 PM – 06:00 PM
Virtual Currencies Chris Douglas is our guest speaker on this very current topic. For his presentation to the Men’s shed, Chris has advised that he will start with the first virtual currencies namely frequent flyer programmes and later shopping rewards programmes e.g. flybys. Chris has used this approach when training detectives and it helps remove some of the mystic. By using this easily understood technique, Chris has found that once participants grasp the concept then the rest falls neatly into place.  Chris will also talk about Blockchain technology which really is driving the virtual currencies industry. Should time permit Chris may also include information about Donald Trump’s virtual currency. Should be rather interesting. So come along and be enlightened, entertained and enjoy the fellowship with your fellow Sheddies and guests.
