SCMS October Sundowner: Pasta & Pizzas are back!
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
05:30 PM – 08:00 PM
The recent change to warmer weather is prompting us to bring back "Pizzas under the Lights" in our garden area for this month's SCMS sundowner. We have again assured the services of our renowned "Pizza-King" Simon Benwell who will lead the Kitchen Team in the preparation of a selection of delightful pizzas. To satisfy the most hungry of diners, we will serve a pasta entree before bringing out the pizzas and we will finish the meal with a nice dessert. As usual, partners and spouses are welcome to come along and enjoy a lovely evening under the stars at the Shed! Cost for food will be $20 with beer and wine at standard prices.   To help us gauge demand, we require pre-payment with your registration.  You will be able to get a credit towards a future event if you cancel at least 24 hours before the event, Should you need to cancel, please send an email to wernerribul@mac.com. No-shows on the day will forfeit their ticket fee. We hope you will be able to join us. Best regards, Werner & Simon

Hello Cooking Class Sheddies The Royal Show is over for another year. Well done to all those who volunteered at the Shed during the Show. I hope you will join me for the next cooking class on Tuesday 21 October at 9am. We will eat what we cook and lunch will be at about 12.30pm. We will cook two Greek dishes. The main course will be Chicken and Orzo Youvetsi (a hearty chicken, tomato and herb one pan dish served with olives and fetta cheese).  The dessert will be Greek lemon pie with phyllo pastry.  A fixed cost of $20 per person will apply to each class to cover ingredients. Beer and wine will be available for purchase on the day. Please purchase your ticket in advance. As always, I look forward to seeing you on the day. All the best Michael Henderson

Our new 'Artisan Bread Baking Group' will be preparing some delicious sourdough breads this afternoon, ready for baking on Thursday morning. This time, Werner Ribul will be teaching us how to bake the best "Focaccia in the West'! To achieve this, we will be baking the focaccia in our trusted Wood-fired oven. You will be able to smell and sample the 'spoils' of this effort if you visit the SCMS Kitchen on Thursday at lunchtime.

Wine Group Meeting - Tuesday 14th October 2025
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:30 PM – 06:30 PM
The delayed Wine Appreciation monthly meeting for October will be a battle of Mediterranean grapes varieties, with Australia represented by 4 wines from the Barossa Valley (courtesy of the Artisans of Barossa) pitted against the same varieties from their traditional regions in Italy and Spain. Whilst I appreciate the meeting is on the same day as the Kitchen Group are holding their October Shed luncheon, the Royal Show made our usual first Tuesday of the month unviable.  But as an incentive to attend, the ticket price has been reduced to only $15. As usual reserve a place quickly as we seem to get over booked quickly. Guests are welcome but we need to give priority to members of the wine group. If, by the Friday before the event, we still have places available, we will open the bookings to guests.  It would be best if you tell me directly if you would like to bring a guest and I will place them on a wait list (first in best dressed). Contact me via chris.m.harding.52@gmail.com and put “wine night guest” in the subject line
