Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
10-02-2025 09:00 AM – 15-02-2025 09:00 AM
To maintain your Blue Dot Woodworking Accreditation you will need to, you will need to undertake a Verification of Competency (VOC) Assessment as follows. Woodworking members aged under 75 years will be assessed every 24 months Woodworking members aged 75 to 84 years will be assessed every 18 months Woodworking members older than 85 years  will be assessed every 12 months You will be assigned a simple task which shouldn’t take more than about 30 minutes. This is not a test of your craftsmanship; it is simply a demonstration that you can competently use the machinery unsupervised without endangering yourself or others.  You can book your VOC Assessment by clicking on your preferred VOC Assessment date below. The Rostered Supervisor for the day will oversee your assessment and he will either deem you "competent" or refer you to a Trainer for further assessment or training. If you choose not to do the VOC Assessment,  you will no longer be able to use the Machine Room equipment unsupervised.

Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:00 PM – 05:30 PM
This is another shout out to Sheddies to come along to this month's Shed Talk as a precursor to our Shed Sundowner. We actively search for guest speakers who have an impact on our Shed and this month we have had great success in securing the RASWA CEO, Ms Robyn Sermon as our special guest. So come along and be informed and have your questions at the ready for what should be a very informative and enlightening talk.   This month we are very pleased to announce that we have secured Ms Robyn Sermon, CEO of the Royal Agricultural Society of WA (“RASWA) as our guest speaker for this meeting which is the prelude to the Shed’s monthly sundowner event. Robyn will inform our Sheddies about the plans RASWA has for the future and will no doubt talk about the significant changes that have been implemented around the Showgrounds over the recent past. RASWA is of course our Landlord at the Shed, and this is your opportunity to meet with them to hear, firsthand, their plans and how this may impact upon us. The Men’s Shed and RASWA have a fabulous working relationship and long may it continue. The Wellness Group plans on holding talks by guest speakers and health professionals generally on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, so why not make a note in your diary so you don't miss these events. So come along and be informed whilst enjoying the company of your fellow Sheddies. As usual Refreshments will be available at the usual Shed pricing with nibbles to keep the hunger pains at bay whilst you wait for the start of this month’s sundowner.
