July 23rd Special Wine Event - Barossa 2018 Shiraz Project
04:30 PM – 06:30 PM
We are holding an additional wine event this month at which we will be featuring the 2018 Barossa Shiraz Project by Artisans of the Barossa.  This group represents a number of very high quality wine makers and the Project range is aimed at showcasing the impact of terrior and the winemakers skills on the wine.  We have already tasted their grenache project which was much enjoyed. As we are now limiting the meeting numbers to 16, we decided to offer places first to those who didnt/couldnt attend the last meeting and then open bookings to the whole group a few days later  That way we hope over the year everyone will get a chance to attend an event.  Well it worked a treat as we have only 4 places remaining so if you wish to attend please book immediately.    In addition, once a meeting is fully booked, we will be opening a waiting list so if a place comes available it can be filled.  So if you miss out on getting a place please watch out for the waiting list

Shed Flight Simulator: Do You Want To Captain The B737?
09:00 AM – 10:15 AM
The Flight Simulator is now in basic manual operating mode, bar the occasional problems which we are learning to correct. The Core Operating Group (Calvin Munro, Mike Glasson, Tony Strickland and myself) are now looking to expand the Group to ensure we have a sufficient number of members who are capable of starting up, flying and shutting down the Sim. This will enable us to provide a broader service to the general Shed membership who are mainly interested in the occasional joy flight, as well as the proposed activity during the Royal Show. The expanded Operating Group will then look to utilising the full capabilities of the Sim, such as autopilot, active weather and aircraft movements, etc.  To this end the current Group will hold an information session in the main Meeting Room on Monday 22 July, starting at 9a m. We can conclude prior to morning tea (including scones!) and then walk down to the Sim for some real action. If you have a keen interest in getting more involved in operating the Sim, rather than just a passing curiosity, we would welcome your attendance. Contact Nick Bagshaw (nickbagshaw44@gmail.com) if you want more information prior to the meeting.

SCMS Pizza-making Masterclass
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
08:30 AM – 01:30 PM
Dear SCMS Kitchen Team Member, To refresh our knowledge, Masterchef Simon Benwell will run another of his Pizza-making Masterclasses to pass on the secrets on how to make delicious "Pizzas à la Simon" at the Men's Shed. Simon will cover all stages of the process starting with making of the Red Sauce, the pizza balls, firing of the wood-fired oven and the prep and cooking of his delicious pizzas. The masterclass will be "hands-on" for all participants and the end result will be enjoyed as a group lunch. The ultimate aim of this masterclass is to introduce more SCMS kitchen team members to our Pizza-making process and help in running Pizza events when Simon might not be available in future. Please grab a FREE ticket for this event to help us gauge interest and purchase the required amount of ingredients to feed everybody. We will obviously have to watch the weather forecast closely since this is an outdoor event and there is a risk we might have to re-schedule the Masterclass at a later date. We hope you can join us for this free event. Best regards, Werner

We all know that walking a great exercise and exercise is the best strategy to stay healthy and able to do all the things you really enjoy doing (like drinking wine and eating food).  But doing it by yourself is not always easy or fun. The Health and Wellbeing Committee invite all memebers to come and join in a relaxed walk around the showgrounds and/or surrounding area.  It will be an opportunity to get your "steps" in for the day, meet other members and then enjoy morning tea back at the shed. The aim is to make this a regular weekly event. Depending on interest we may look at other days but we thought getting your exercise for the week on track is a good idea.
