Beer n Bullshit Sundowner - Golf Simulator Survey Results
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:00 PM – 06:00 PM
This is a special meeting to call together all of those who are interested in setting up a golf simulator group within the Shed. At this meeting we will discuss the results of that rapid fire Golf Simulator Survey that the Shed Committee requested and where we are currently with this proposal. In broad terms 140 shed members responded to the survey. Without getting into too much detail the distilled results were 1: Members not in favour 62 (representing 44% of respondents), 2: Members in favour 53 (representing 38% of respondents) and 3: Members open minded to the idea being 25 (representing 18% of respondents). From these results, if you take a pessimistic view that only the 53 members who are in favour of the proposal were to form the golf sim group, then this group would be one of the largest groups in the shed. If you take an optimistic view and project the survey result percentages to the whole of our 300 members, then the golf sim group would have over 120 members and it would be the largest single group in the shed of consistent users of shed facilities in a month. At this month’s Beer & Bullshit session, we will discuss the survey results, and enlighten Sheddies to the proposal that has been put forward and all the hard work that is going on behind the scenes to determine if this proposal will be adopted or not. So, if you are a golfer who would like to see this group get up and running, then this is the meeting for you. If you have an interest in this new prospective group, I encourage you to come along and be informed and gain a better insight into the world of golf simulators. From those attending the meeting we will be looking to form the leadership team for this prospective group and continue the work necessary to get this group established. If you are a Sheddie who is just interested in getting the detail of the survey, then you too should attend. However, if you are a Sheddie who just likes to come along and enjoy the company of your fellow sheddies, then you are most certainly welcome to attend. So come along, be educated, inquisitive, engaged and be social by enjoying the company of your fellow Sheddies at this Sundowner. Looking forward to catching up with all my potential new Golfing Buddies and my usual Beer and Bullshit mates. Finally, keep a look out for news of our next Beer and Bullshit meeting, coming up in a couple of weeks. Through the contacts of our very own John Suthers, we have managed to secure Dr Craig Challen SC OAM as our next guest speaker. Craig was honoured as the joint 2019 Australian of the Year for his role in the cave rescue. Craig will hopefully discuss the Thai Cave Rescue of which he was an extremely vital component, and his recent experience as a contestant on Australian SAS, shot on location in Jordan. Best regards Peter Panek

SAMPLING SOUTH AUSTRALIA South Australia is known for its wide range and quality of luscious wines, especially its Shiraz and Rieslings. Self -dubbed "The Wine State" it boasts a range of seven major wine regions. Allan Bandt (an ex South Australian) will take us through a variety of primarily of a mix of robust red wines spanning some of these regions. Most of the wines for this evening will be sourced from five-star wineries with 5 star ratings by Halliday or similar wine reviewers. Following in the footsteps of Peter Trinders excellent presentation, we will be exploring the similarities and differences of these range of wines. Most of our wines for the evening will be somewhat younger that some of previous presentations, so it will be interesting for us to identify and comment on the cellaring potential of these excellent mix of wines The final mystery wine is yet to be chosen. As a disclaimer, it won't be a Grange!
