Wellbeing Group - Heroes, Villans and Vagabonds by Richard Offen
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:00 PM – 06:00 PM
This is your last opportunity for 2024 to join with the Wellness Group at our final presentation for this year. So come along and enjoy listeniong to a great speaker and sharing in some Shed fellowship this week. Due to popular demand, Richard is returning to our Shed for another presentation entitled "Heroes, Villans and Vagabonds". Perth’s history is littered with wonderful characters that shaped the city in a multitude of ways. In this talk, Richard Offen will take you on a fascinating journey through the history of Perth, highlighting some of the people who, in their own way, for good or bad, and even sometimes a bit of both, contributed to the way Perth is today. Ladies such as Eliza Shaw, who through her diaries and writings reveals the joys, sorrows and extreme hardships of early life in the Swan River Colony. Then there is Moondyne Joe, the infamous 19th century Houdini, who managed to escape from many of WA's jails. Were they mad, bad or totally eccentric? Come along and judge for yourself! As usual, partners are welcome to attend, and we encourage you to stay around after the talk for some Men’s Shed Fellowship. The only known photo of Moondyne Joe.

December 3rd Wine Appreciation Event - Bring out your Dead
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:30 PM – 06:30 PM
December 3rd will be our last Wine Group gathering for 2024 and, as is our tradition, it is our "Bring out your Dead" event.  This is when you get to bring along a bottle of wine which you would like to share with the group.  The idea is that the wine is something you have had tucked away for a while and believe has reached (or perhaps even passed) its drinking window or maybe its just something you have had for a while that you think will be of interest due to its provenance or characterisitics.  You are not meant to go to the local wine store to buy something just for the event. As we will be providing food, the cost of the event for attendees who bring a wine to share will be $10.  If you dont have any suitable wine to share, the cost will be the normal $20 (the extra $10 charged on the night).  To add a bit of fun, the group will rate all the wines and any wine judged to be poor or worse will mean the person bringing it will need to top up another $10.  If you plan to bring a wine, please email me with with your selection (winery, grape and vintage) so that we can  plan the order of tasting and if need be, top up with wine we have in the Wine Group storage. Please send your selection to SLKeenihan@gmail.com with "bring out your dead" in the subject. Cheers Stephen
