Over 200 bicycles have already been delivered since 1 July 2023.

Join everyone in our lovely garden area under our new shade sail (or in the conference room if the weather is inclement) for fresh baked scones, jam and cream with friendly companionship. Prospective members are welcome.

All members are welcome to join our Art Group and explore their own artistic talents, try a new medium, have a go or just watch and learn a little as other members experiment and create. No previous experience is necessary.

To maintain your Blue Dot Woodworking Accreditation you will need to, you will need to undertake a Verification of Competency (VOC) Assessment as follows. Woodworking members aged under 75 years will be assessed every 24 months Woodworking members aged 75 to 84 years will be assessed every 18 months Woodworking members older than 85 years  will be assessed every 12 months You will be assigned a simple task which shouldn’t take more than about 30 minutes. This is not a test of your craftsmanship; it is simply a demonstration that you can competently use the machinery unsupervised without endangering yourself or others.  You can book your VOC Assessment by clicking on your preferred VOC Assessment date below. The Rostered Supervisor for the day will oversee your assessment and he will either deem you "competent" or refer you to a Trainer for further assessment or training. If you choose not to do the VOC Assessment,  you will no longer be able to use the Machine Room equipment unsupervised.

All Members who intend to be part of the Woodworking Group will need to complete this Power Tools Induction Training. There is a once off Cost of $10 for this Training Course, which can be paid when you purchase a ticket. There will be a maximum of 3 persons for each Training Session.  If after booking, for some reason you cannot attend the training, please advise the Red Dot coordinator, Jeremy Wallace, on 0406927650 (SMS please), or email (jeremywallace5@outlook.com) as soon as possible, so we can arrange another session for you.  The successful completion of the Red Dot Training is a pre-requisite to booking the Blue Dot Woodwork Machinery Course. Once you have completed this Training, your Membership Badge will updated to show a Red Dot and enable you to undertake any projects in the Main Workshop that utilise only Power Tools. 

Otti will hold a demonstration to show members what the new Laser Cutter can do. He will explain how the laser cutter works, what the software can do and touch on some safety procedures. Following will be some example cuts on various materials and showing you what we has been produced so far. Hopefully you will be excited about this new machine and come up with lots of ideas that the machine can be used for.

Woodworking Machinery Induction (Blue Dot) – Phases 1 & 2 All Members who wish to use the woodworking machinery in the Machine Room will need to complete Phase 1 & Phase 2 of the Woodworking Machinery Induction Training. Please Note that Members must have completed the Red Dot course before enrolling in this Blue Dot course? This Course will be conducted in two Phases over two consecutive weeks (9am - 12pm) so you must be able to commit to both sessions before purchasing a ticket. Each Phase will be approximately a three hour duration. There will be a maximum of 3 persons for each Session. The Cost of this course (for both Phases) is $20.  If after booking, for some reason you cannot attend the training, please advise Michael Cahill on 0459062090 as soon as possible, so we can arrange another session for you.  If you cancel or are a “no show” on the day you will lose your $20 fee so please, only book if you can commit to the two consecutive weeks. Payments can be made online by secure credit card.  Once you have completed both phases of the Woodworking Machinery Induction your Membership Badge will be updated to replace the Red Dot with a Blue Dot.  This will reflect that you have completed all the necessary Woodworking Training and are ready to undertake any Woodworking projects in the Shed.

Dear Kitchen Team members, As advised previously, we are planning to have a Kitchen Team lunch at Good Fortune Roast Duck House in Northbridge next Friday. Please reply to this invitation if you want to come along to help with making the arrangements. The food is essentially Chinese and their speciality is an outstanding roast duck and pork. The restaurant is BYO and we will bring a few bottles of wine along. The restaurant has ample parking space nearby and can easily be reached via public transport. This month's SCMS sundowner will bring back pizzas and desserts under the lights in our Shed garden area, a fitting preparation for the following ANZAC public holiday. Our very own "Pizza-King" Simon Benwell and his trusted crew will cook up a selection of delightful pizzas and we will finish the meal with a nice dessert. As usual, partners and spouses are very welcome to come along and enjoy the evening at the Shed! Cost for food will be $18 with beer and wine at standard prices.   To help us gauge demand, we require pre-payment with your registration.  You will be able to get a credit towards a future event if you cancel at least 24 hours before the event, Should you need to cancel, please send an email to wernerribul@mac.com. Wayne Bradshaw is the CEO of Westcycle, the peak body for cycling in WA. In this session Wayne will share - A brief background of WestCycle’s role as peak body for bike riding Bike riding is more than MAMILS (middle-aged men in lycra) Healthy streets and connected communities The role of active transport in our future transport needs There will also be an opportunity for members to share their thoughts on what the government could do for our community in relation to bike riding in WA and a general discussion. This is an opportunity for members to feed back to Westcycle and influence policy and direction. Even if you are not a bike rider, please come along and share your thoughts and ideas.

Don't forget this great opportunity to visit a prominent local facility whilst enjoying some great company and fellowship at the Claremont Football Club. Everyone is welcome and we hope you can all come along and enjoy the occassion.   A special site visit has been organised for our Sheddies to visit the Claremont Football Club. The Club CEO, Darcy Coffey and the Claremont Head Coach will both be available to give a bit of history about the club and let members know how the Footy club is travelling in their wonderful new facilities. It is hoped that a number of Claremont Football Club Old Boys will also come along  as they have formed their own little "Men's Shed" at the footy club. They perform a whole range of support activities which assists the club greatly and provides them with their own sense of purpose, community involvement and active participation at the Club. We want to support other local communitiy groups and want as many members as possible to come along and spend an interesting afternoon of engagement. In keeping with the spirit of "Beer and Bullshit" the upstairs bar will be open and we are encouraged to stay and have a few drinks whilst enjoying the fabulous facilities and the view of the oval and as usual participate in good humoured banter in the bar. The planned itinery looks like this 3:50 - 4:00 meet out front of the Claremont Football Club Office located in the Stadium at 3 Davies Road, Claremont. 4:00 - 4:30 tour of facility (changerooms, hall of fame and function rooms) 4:30pm – Ash Prescott (Senior Coach) to speak with us regarding the Club's prospects for the current football year. 4:45pm – Our Monday Volunteer crew discuss their participation at the Club and how their own particular "Men's Shed" equivilent works. 5pm – Beer in the tiger bar at Claremont Football prices.
