SCMS July Luncheon: Sri Lankan Curry Feast
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
12:30 PM – 02:00 PM
After a lengthy planning period, we are finally able to bring a genuine Sri Lankan Curry Feast to the SCMS Monthly Luncheon. Guest Chef and coordinator extraordinaire Steve Gerreyn will utilise his Sri Lankan connections in the Perth community to deliver a sumptuous Beef Curry with Daal (lentils), Brinjal (Eggplant) and a couple of sambals of varying degrees of spiciness! This will be served with a fragrant yellow rice and will be followed by a traditional Sri Lankan dessert called "Watalapam". Cost for food will be $15 with beer, wine and soft drinks at standard prices.  As usual, we require pre-payment with your registration.  You will be able to get a credit towards a future event if you cancel at least 1 day before this luncheon. No-shows on the day will forfeit their ticket fee. Members who intend to use a credit carried over from a previous event, please reply to this email and we will book you in.  Please register early to avoid the disappointment of missing this special occasion as the lunch room capacity is strictly limited.  We hope you will join us!

Bee Group Monthly Meeting
03:30 PM – 05:30 PM
Important: Our June monthly Bee Group meeting is shifting slightly to Friday, July 1st.  The next monthly meeting after that will be on Friday, July 29th.  Also, after a few complimentary social hours over the last few months (courtesy of your Leadership Team), going forward we will be charging $10 to cover costs of drinks and nibblies.  IF you are staying on for drinks you will need follow the link in this invite to book in so we can cater properly.   This month we are fortunate to have John Chadwick speaking to us about swarming – why bees swarm, how to spot the warning signs and ways to prevent it happening.  John is a long-time senior beekeeper and past president of the WA Apiary Society, and a member of our very own Men’s Shed!  He is a font of knowledge on bees and a great speaker. This is a perfect time to start thinking about this topic before the spring nectar flow starts!   Also, on July 9th we will be doing our next big honey extraction.  Put that date on your calendar if you want to come along and be part of the fun.

STAY ON YOUR FEET “Move, Improve, Remove” This session will be presented by a Volunteer from Injury Matters, a program funded by the WA Department of Health. This is a very important subject as injuries sustained from Falls, particularly for Seniors, can be serious and affect their Quality of Life. Prevention of Falls is one of the best ways to mitigate these circumstances. A casing point is that there was a very serious fall at the Shed recently which hospitalized one of our Members. The Presentation will be followed by a Sundowner where Simon, our Pizza maker extraordinaire, will be firing up the Pizza Oven for us.
