Wine Appreciation Group Meeting - June 7th, Swan Trip and Host Roster
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:30 PM – 06:30 PM
The June Wine Appreciation event happens on June 7th.  Leigh Gerreyn was to host the event but unfortunately work pressures prevent him from doing so.  Mike Somerville Brown, buoyed by the Porter extravaganza, has graciously stepped in and will be our host on June 7th instead.  As usual please indicate your attendance by purchasing a ticket via the Shed website. Following discussion with Peter Goodes we propose the Swan Valley trip take place on July 13th, leaving the Shed at around 0945.   Using his fine negotiation skills Peter has arrive at a cost of $70/head including bus transport, meal with wine at Chesters and wine tasting at Sandalford Winery.  A formal event invite will be sent to you closer date but please mark your diaries and reserve the day. As discussed at the last wine event, we have compiled a draft schedule for Wine Appreciation monthly hosts.  We are trying to “spread the load” and also give everyone the chance to run an event and impart their knowledge about wines that interest them.  It also gives everyone plenty of time to prepare and source wines We emphasise that the schedule below is not fixed and if you are very keen to be a host, and you’re not on the list, please put up your hand and we can adjust the list.  Once agreed by the group, the designated host will be expected to step up or find someone else from the list who is willing to take their place.  You can see there are quite a few reserves to draw upon or combine with as the tasting can be run by more than one person provided there is a consistent theme.   The reserves will be prime candidates  for the next schedule (2023-24). Over time, the plan is to give everyone a turn We would like to finalise this schedule next meeting.  If you aren’t attending, please respond by email and indicate your preference. Photography Group - Lightroom Workshop #2
09:00 AM – 04:30 PM
Workshop for Photography Members who have contributed an annual payment for 2022  This is the second one day workshop using the Lightroom Classic software to be conducted by Peter Buck and Les Gunn.  Whether you are a beginner or pro or somewhere in between, Peter and Les will provide a good overview of the Lightroom Classic Package.  There will be some theory given at the commencement of the workshop, however the bulk of the time will be hands-on with the participants using/sharing laptops and the group’s desktop computers. This workshop may also be helpful for those members currently not using Lightroom but are curious to know more. The purpose of this workshop is to: build on your Lightroom skills introduced in Workshop #1.  Peter will review the "Develop" module and reinforce the post processing logic and hierachy of decision making for editing photos using sample photos distributed during the first workshop. In addition It is suggested that participants bring up to six images that they would like to edit during the Workshop, time allowing. Les will demonstrate Lightroom functionality for "sharing" your collection to other devices such as your iPhone, iPad, etc. but also with family and friends. Les will also demonstrate how to create and save a Slideshow of your photos. Peter will demonstate how you can create a photobook either for hardcopy printing or as an ebook. This workshop will not be exhaustive in terms of covering everything possible. Instead, it will focus on the key processes so that participants become better acquainted with the practical power of Lightroom and more comfortable with using the software. A more comprehensive understanding of the software only comes with use over time. To some extent the participants will determine the pace and direction of the workshop and lessons learnt. A collection of photos has been compiled, to be used by each workshop participant on the day. The collection comprises unprocessed Raw photos, so that the impact of processing will be clearer. The collection has a variety of images, to demonstrate the application of specific processing tools.  Attendees to bring: Max of 6 photos on a USB drive they would like to edit during the hands on sessions in the Workshop. If possible, a laptop computer with Lightroom software (If Yes please select the relevant "ticket" below). Catering Lunch will be provided by the Shed Kitchen Group and will consist of a mix of meat and salad sandwiches and a fruit platter.  At morning tea we will join other Shed members for coffee/tea and scones. Afternoon tea we will break for coffee/tea and some special biscuits.  Cost is $12 payable by credit card.  For planning and catering purposes we request that you please make your payment by 5pm Monday 16 April 2022. Sundowner This workshop will conclude with our usual Sundowner for attendees, with a chance to talk informally with our presenters Peter and Les with some wine and nibbles at a cost of $10 per person. Please make your payment by 5pm Monday 16 April 2022. I hope you can join us for this very interesting Workshop. Mike Somerville-Brown
