Photography Group - Presentation on Sunsets and Field Trip to South Perth Foreshore

PROGRAM 3.30 pm: Shed Conference Room: A Presentation on "Sunrises and Sunsets" by Peter Buck . 5:00pm: Travel to South Perth Foreshore for a Field Trip and setup for some pre and post sunset shots of the City skyline, Narrows Bridge, etc. (sunset expected at 6:30pm) under the guidance of Peter and other experienced photographers. Remember to bring your camera and tripod. 7:30pm: We will conclude with a Sundowner for drinks and a meal at a local restaurant or the Windsor Hotel. SCMS Monthly Sundowner - 24 March

Hello Shedders As usual, the March health presentation will be followed by the monthly Sundowner in the SCMS garden. Our kitchen team will prepare a delicious offering of glazed chicken drumsticks and vegetarian quiche slice served with baked potato and coleslaw.  Again this month there will be something sweet to finish your meal.  Cost for food will be $12.  Drinks will be available for purchase - beer, wine and soft drink at standard prices. You are welcome to purchase an additional ticket for your partner to attend this Sundowner.  The bar will be open from 4:30 in the garden to sell drinks to partners while members are at the presntation inside. We require pre-payment with your registration. You will be able to get a credit for a future event if you cancel at least one day before the event. No-shows on the day will forfeit their ticket fee. Please register early to avoid the disappointment of missing this popular event.  We hope you will join us!

Photography Group - Lightroom Classic Workshop 2B

Following the very successful Introduction to Lightroom Workshop on 25 Feb 21 we will continue the series with a hands on session for members. Therefore we have decided to run two sessions each limited to 8 members. Session dates are 11 and 18 March 2021. More sessions can be run on demand. The Workshop will focus on the Library and Develop modules of Lightroom. Peter and Les will take the group through a series of exercises to help you familarise yourself with Lightroom Classic using your laptop computer. They will also provide guidance on the Lightroom settings that they typically use.  Attendees (max of 8 with computer) will need to: bring a suitable Laptop computer loaded with the Lightroom Classic software (Adobe offers a free trail before you buy) bring a selection of six photos you can work on during the Workshop view a short video available on the Adobe Lightroom site If you need assistance with installing the software please contact Les Gunn The session will conclude with a Sundowner with wine and nibbles. We request that you register for this second Workshop by 5 March for planning purposes.

SCMS Kitchen Luncheon: Tuesday 9th March: Malaysian classic

This month's lunch will bring us to Malaysia, which prior to COVID was a popular tourist destination for many Australians.  Lead by chef Keng Wong,  our Kitchen Team will prepare a meal staring the Malaysian classic dish, Beef Rendang.  Beer and wine will be available for purchase at "the bar", to complete your meal. Cost for food will be $10 with beer and wine at standard prices. As usual, we require pre-payment with your registration. You will be able to get a credit towards a future event if you cancel at least 1 day before this luncheon. No-shows on the day will forfeit their ticket fee. Please register early to avoid the disappointment of missing this special occasion as the room capacity is still limited 30 patrons.  We hope you will join us!

This week is a little compilcated as we have 4 credits from last  month, these being for Malcolm Tew, Steve Gerreyn, Chris Porter and Peter Goodes.  I have therefore reduced the number of available spots by 4 on the assumption that this each of group will be attending.  So those in this credit group please dont buy a ticket as you have already been allocated a spot.  But DO tell me if you are NOT attending the March meeting.  As numbers are tight please respond as soon as possible so you dont miss out.

Learn To Solder - Electronics Skills Session

The Electronics Group will be holding a Learn to Solder skills session on the afternoon of Friday February 26th from 1:30pm until 4:00 pm in the Shed Meeting Room.Participants will be introduced to soldering small electronic parts and will construct an "Electronic Badge" to take home. Numbers are limited to five per session due to the availability of tools and equipmnt, so register as soon as possible. Don't worry if you miss out, further sessions will be run depending on the level of interest. Cost is $25 for the session and badge.

Photography Group - Half Day Lightroom Workshop

A Half day workshop on the Lightroom Classic software package will be conducted by Peter Buck and Les Gunn. Whether you are a beginner or pro or somewhere in between,  Lightroom Classic includes all the essential tools for creating amazing photos on your computer.  We will outline the key features with demonstrations and exercises on: Managing and importing photos Editing photos Publishing photos This Workshop is the first of a series of workshops to assist members to learn how to use Lightroom to better organize, store, edit and share your photos. The Workshop is free for "Photography Computer Members for 2021"; otherwise the costs is $10 for Shed members. The Workshop will be followed by a Sundowner with wine and nibbles at a cost of $10 per person. The Workshop is limited to 30 persons. Please register if you havent already thanks.   The Health topic for this months meeting is "Inadequate Sleep – A Common and Troubling Problem”.  The talk will be about causes, consequences and ways in which sleep issues can be addressed.   Our speaker will be Professor David Hillman.   The meeting will also include a brief Shed Update followed with an informal BBQ.
