The Shed will be participating in this Event tomorrow Evening manning the Sausage Sizzle and an adjacent stall, selling Woodworking and WoodTurning items, Jams and Honey but aslo spruiking the Shed and encouraging new members to join.  Thanks to all the guys participating in this Event.  This is a Community Event run across all Bunnings Stores and is free to all Patrons, so If you're in the neighbourhood drop in and grab a free sausage and say hi.

Our final meeting of the year will be held on December 7th   While this is also the date of the Shed Xmas Lunch, it was agreed at last meeting that we could handle both events given our year long training to build stamina. This month wines are being provided by Curt McDonald, Chris Harding, Graeme Owems and John Bolto. The event is expected to continue in the Xmas theme and we look forward to your company. Ho, Ho, Ho! The festive season is quickly approaching and we are planning to stage the culinary highlight of the SCMS year - a sumptious SCMS Christmas Luncheon with food and drink to die for! Your intrepid Kitchen Team will work around the clock to deliver a smorgasboard of cooked prawns, Shed-honey glazed ham and some healthy salad options with a sweet finish in the form of a passionfruit cheesecake and fresh fruit salad! We ask you to arrive by 12pm and settle in with your favorite drink before the food banquet will be opened fomally at 12:30pm. People arriving late will risk of missing out on some of the delights, so please be on time! Cost for food will be a steal at $15 with beer and wine at standard prices.  As usual, we require pre-payment with your registration.  You will be able to get a credit towards a future event if you cancel at least 1 day before this luncheon. No-shows on the day will forfeit their ticket fee. Members who intend to use a credit carried over from a previous event, please reply to this email and we will book you in.  Despite there being a higher ticket allocation, please register early to avoid the disappointment of missing this happy occasion as the hall capacity is strictly limited.  We hope you will join us!  

After a long wait, the Shed has now taken delivery of a new CNC Router. If you are interested in finding out how this machine works, what jobs can be done and how the software works, come along to the presentation next Saturday 4th December in the Shed Conference Room at 10.am. A trial version of the VCarve Pro operating software is available at www.vectric.com for those who would like take a look. 

Photo Group - Mustering Cattle; iPhone Photography Tips Special re-run of popular sessions for all Shed Members. This workshop will be run in two parts: 2:00pm Cattle Mustering in the Kimberley - Jim Thom Jim Thom shows snippets from his life during the 1960s in the North of WA. It was a very tough life. Men, Cattle, Horses, Trucks and heavy machinery are featured in his talk with photographs collected by Jim and his family. Les Gunn of the Men’s Shed Photography Group has assisted Jim with scanning many old photographs and slides, then selected and sorted them to help illustrate an inspiring story of Jim’s role in the evolution of the cattle industry during the 1960s. 3:00pm Taking Better photos with your Smartphone: Workshop - Les Gunn While everyone loves the look of a photo from a “real” camera, the best camera is usually the one you have with you.  Smartphone cameras have gotten more phenomenal in the past few years, with companies beefing up photo resolution, adding more lenses, improved settings and integrating options to share photos with family and friends.   Les Gunn will lead this workshop identifying tips and tricks for taking better photos with your smartphone. See you soon Regards Peter     As we move into the Xmas period the Shed calendar gets rather busy and so I have slotted November's meeting in the week of, but just after the AGM. These Sundowners provide a great opportunityfor our Shed members to come together and socialise and get to know there fellow Sheddies better which is a big part of being part of the Mens Shed movement  In order to stimulate the flow of conversation and the Bullshit, I shall introduce a controversial topic for discussion. For example, how does our society transition to 2050 so we can phase down coal rather than phase out coal. That should get a few chins wagging. As per usual, minor nibbles will be available, but don't expect too much as I am not part of the Kitchen group. Drinks will be priced at a subsidised price of $4 for any beer or glass of wine which you can choose from our stock on hand. Payment is made at the end of the night, so just keep your own tab and settle up before you go. Also any assistance to clean up will be greatly appreciated. We are holding an Open Day between the Garden and Kitchen teams in conjunction with the Repair Lab Perth team being on site from 10am-12pm. In addittion to plants and kitchen produce for sale, we will be offering freshly cooked Bacon & Egg rolls and scones with coffee/tea.  Guided shed tours will run frequently to show the public what's on offer at the Men's Shed. This workshop will be run in two parts. 2:00pm Action Photography - Cameron Frost Cameron Frost is a young man who has travelled the world taking photographs and creating videos of "Action" sports and events in Australia, Asia to Hawaii and many places in between. Cameron was the lead photographer for the Bright Blue Charity 's Postie Bike Ride on the Gibb River Road. He has also taken photos and videos of several surfing and windsurfing events in Australia and overseas. In his presentation Cam will show us some excerpts of his videos and then discuss the types of cameras and drones he used; issues encountered; editing software used and his tips for filming "action" events.  3:00pm Drone Photography - John Bolto  Photography drones allow individuals to capture photos that previously could only be taken from helicopters or planes. More and more photographers are buying drones and trying their hand at aerial photography. John will share some of his drone photos and give us an introduction to choosing a photography drone and the key elements to consider including flight safety, image systems, transmission systems, intelligent features, portability, and service. If time permits John will take us to the Showgrounds Oval and demonstrate how to fly a drone.
