“The Blueprint for Success: 9 Principles to High Performance and Human Excellence” After years of observing highly successful coaches, there appears to be 9 core principles that are embedded in their success. What are these principles and how are they applied to ensure people can reach similar levels of excellence? About Glenn   Glenn Stewart is a former High Performance Manager and Strength & Conditioning Coach at the West Coast Eagles (AFL). During his 30 years in that role the Eagles won 4 premierships and appeared in 23 finals series. He is also a former Sprints and Hurdles Coach (WA Institute of Sport) and coached athletes to the World Cup and Olympic and Commonwealth Games. He now consults to sporting teams, coaches and business leaders focusing on developing high performance solutions, culture, and leadership. In recent years this has included the AIS, Rugby Australia, the Origin Diamonds, Triathlon Australia, West Coast Fever, Catholic Education, South Fremantle Football Club and Tennis West.

All Members who intend to be part of the Woodworking Group will need to complete this Power Tools Induction Training. There is a once off Cost of $10 for this Training Course, which can be paid when you purchase a ticket. Note: Members are required to complete the 'Yellow Dot' Shed Introduction session before taking part in a Red Dot training session. There will be a maximum of 3 persons for each Training Session.  If after booking, for some reason you cannot attend the training, please advise the Red Dot coordinator, Jeremy Wallace, on 0406927650 (SMS please), or email (jeremywallace5@outlook.com) as soon as possible, so we can arrange another session for you.  The successful completion of the Red Dot Training is a pre-requisite to booking the Blue Dot Woodwork Machinery Course. Once you have completed this Training, your Membership Badge will updated to show a Red Dot and enable you to undertake any projects in the Main Workshop that utilise only Power Tools.

Woodworking Machinery Induction (Blue Dot) – Phases 1 & 2 All Members who wish to use the woodworking machinery in the Machine Room will need to complete Phase 1 & Phase 2 of the Woodworking Machinery Induction Training. Please Note that Members must have completed the Red Dot course before enrolling in this Blue Dot course? This Course will be conducted in two Phases over two consecutive weeks (9am - 12pm) so you must be able to commit to both sessions before purchasing a ticket. Each Phase will be approximately a three hour duration. There will be a maximum of 3 persons for each Session. The Cost of this course (for both Phases) is $20.  If after booking, for some reason you cannot attend the training, please advise Michael Cahill on 0459062090 as soon as possible, so we can arrange another session for you.  If you cancel or are a “no show” on the day you will lose your $20 fee so please, only book if you can commit to the two consecutive weeks. Payments can be made online by secure credit card.  Once you have completed both phases of the Woodworking Machinery Induction your Membership Badge will be updated to replace the Red Dot with a Blue Dot.  This will reflect that you have completed all the necessary Woodworking Training and are ready to undertake any Woodworking projects in the Shed.

To maintain your Blue Dot Woodworking Accreditation you will need to, you will need to undertake a Verification of Competency (VOC) Assessment as follows. Woodworking members aged under 75 years will be assessed every 24 months Woodworking members aged 75 to 84 years will be assessed every 18 months Woodworking members older than 85 years  will be assessed every 12 months You will be assigned a simple task which shouldn’t take more than about 30 minutes. This is not a test of your craftsmanship; it is simply a demonstration that you can competently use the machinery unsupervised without endangering yourself or others.  You can book your VOC Assessment by clicking on your preferred VOC Assessment date below. The Rostered Supervisor for the day will oversee your assessment and he will either deem you "competent" or refer you to a Trainer for further assessment or training. If you choose not to do the VOC Assessment,  you will no longer be able to use the Machine Room equipment unsupervised.

Overview, Thursday 3 October, Photography Program   The session will comprise the following items:               2.30 to 3.00pm Discussion of general business, and               3.00 to 5.00pm Guest Presenter, Dale Neill, Master Photographer and educator   Portraiture Workshop” The Man in the Photograph” By Guest Presenter, Dale Neill, Master Photographer AIPP   We are very fortunate to have Master Photographer (AIPP), Dale Neill, a renowned and enthusiastic professional photographer, educator and judge, present a portraiture workshop to our group on Thursday 3 October.   Dale commenced his photography teaching in 1973 at TAFE. He was a leading photography presenter of short courses at UWA Extension for two decades and ran a portrait studio in East Fremantle for seven years. Also, his teaching included the leadership of numerous international photographic tours, countless workshops and mentoring.   Dale loves to teach and mentor and share his photography skills and experiences, which have benefited the development of many professional and amateur photographers.   Dale has many national and state photographic awards. From his coverage of the 2004, Indian Ocean (Indonesia), Boxing Day Tsunami he was awarded the WA Professional Photographer of the Year.   In the planned “The Man in the Photograph” workshop, Dale will cover the essential techniques for taking successful portraits.   This will be a hands-on workshop utilizing the available light and environment of the shed.   You are requested to bring, the following for the workshop:   Your enthusiasm and fun, Your camera and necessary lenses, Fully charged camera batteries and empty SD cards, A photograph of you up to A4 size, that has special meaning and significance to your life (the importance of this to be revealed). Royal Show 2024 Thank You Sundowner

Book now to avoid disappointment - we can’t promise to accomodate everybody! This Free Sundowner will be the final Hurrah from the 2024 Royal Show.  The Royal Show Leadership Group want to say thank you to all SCMS members who have helped us through the year with preparations, planning and presentation of the Shed during the Royal Show.  Your partners are welcome to attend the Sundowner as we also need to thank them for their support of our shed. The Sundowner will be in the workshop so you don't have to worry about the weather dampening our celebrations. Please arrive any time after 4:30pm for drinks and nibbles (and any essential speaches).  The "entree" nibbles will be prepared by our ever ready kitchen team.  The main sustainance will be Paella served from 5:30 - we have contracted this out to Mr Paella.  In case you still need more, we will finish the evening churros. Members who have lent items to the shed for display during the show, will be able to pick up those items any time during Monday.  Otherwise, your items will be stored safely in the shed for you to pick up during the following week. This event is FREE, but we need you to book your ticket(s), the earlier the better for our planning.
