Beer n Bullshit Sundowner - Pyramid Perspectives by Michael Wilson
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:00 PM – 06:00 PM
Hi Sheddies, Michael Wilson has now returned from his fishing trip and is eager to present his talk on the Pyramids to our Group. The details of his talk are as follows. PYRAMID PERSPECTIVES Who, Why and How? Abstract: Of the Seven “Wonders of the Ancient World”, only one remains today, namely the Pyramids of Egypt of which there are several, but Khufu is the big one. They are all located along a short stretch of the west bank of the Nile River, the Giza Plateau, just southwest of Cairo. Conventional Archeology says the Pyramids have stood the test of time for over 4,500 years, built in the 3rd & 4th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom The many mysteries and myths associated with them over the millennia are still a source of conjecture today. Conventional Archeologists remain steadfast in their beliefs that they have all the answers, as to: WHO built them? WHY they were built? HOW they were built, etc. etc. etc? However, a brief investigation into the REALITIES of the pyramids presents a very different scenario. Let me share some REALITIES with you today. Then you can form your own opinion???   So come along, be educated, inquisitive, engaged and be social by enjoying the company of your fellow Sheddies and partners at this Sundowner. Refeshments and the nibbles will be available as usual. Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you all at what should be a very interesting and lively talk. Best regards Peter Panek

Psuedo Wine Appreciation Event - Business Lunch for Rotary Club of Dalkeith
Royal Perth Golf Club
12:00 PM – 02:00 PM
At the last Wine Appreciation event on the 23rd July I announced the upcoming Business Lunch for the Rotary Club of Dalkeith. I invited the members of the SCMS Wine Appreciation group to join me at the lunch to assist the Rotary Club in their philanthropic activities. The business lunch key note speaker will be Paul Holmes a Court, son of Robert and Janet Holmes a Court, who is the owner of both Vasse Felix and the Margaret River Hotel. The topic of his address will be the future of Margaret River which we believe he will have a significant influence over given his large investments in the two businesses he now owns in the region. We understand that he is investing heavily in the refurbishment of the Margaret River Hotel to turn it into a world class venue to match the world class wines that are prodused in the region. Please join me for event at the Royal Perth Golf Club where we will share a 2 course lunch along with a magnum of Domaine Naturaliste Cab Sav 2012 from my cellar. All wine and beer is included in the cost of the event. The other wines, both red and white are supplied by Flying Fish winery from Margaret River. I have a maximum of 8 tickets available on a first come first served basis. The cost is $130 per head. Payment will be by direct bank transfer, details to be distributed to those who purchase a ticket. The Rotary Club raises approx $8,000pa from this event to support our local philanthopic projects. Please RSVP by buying a ticket prior to Wednesday 7th August at 5pm.

August 6th, 2024 Wine Appreciation Group Meeting
Showgrounds Community Men's Shed
04:30 PM – 06:30 PM
Our  meeting in early August will hosted by Mark Hands.  Mark proposes to compare wine from two of WA's wine areas both of which have a history going back to the mid - late 1800's The Ferguson Valley region has long lived in the shadow of the illustrious Margaret River. Increasingly wine critics are singing the praises of the Ferguson Valley. So, to determine how the Ferguson Valley wines stack up against the Margaret River region, there will be four comparisons, three reds and one white, each comparison being the same year & varietal with one from Ferguson Valley & the other from Margaret River region.  This meeting will be done on a first come first serve basis, so be quick.  A standby list will be set up once all the tickets have been allocated.  We may hold a second meeting in August depending on demand and finding someone willing to host the event.
