Beer & Bullshit Sundowner - eBikes
04:00 PM – 06:00 PM
Please note the next Beer and Bullshit night is on this Wednesday. If you already have an ebike and wish to share your ebike experiences then please bring your bike along for the display and discussion with your fellow Sheddies.   Quickly following on from our last meeting we are holding our next Beer and Bullshit event on Wednesday 16th August. This event is a little different from our last few events as we have invited a representative from an ebike company to come along and display a couple of their ebikes and to inform our members about the benefits of an ebike. My personal view is that everyone should own an ebike as they are simply a fantastic way of commuting, particularly for short journeys. As well as our guest speaker presenting their ebikes, we would welcome members who already own an ebike to come along and show off your own ebike and talk to members about the pros and cons of ebike ownership. Our guest speaker is Breytan Menezes, the founder of Wedgetail Bikes, and Breytan has provided the following synopsis of the Company. Who are we: WEDGETAIL Bikes is an electric bike rental company on a mission to transform the way people commute, get healthy and explore their surroundings. We are driven by the vision of empowering communities through accessible micro-mobility and take pride in providing electric bikes that combine affordability, comfort, style, and sustainability, making them the perfect choice for conscious commuters and leisure cyclist alike. What We Do: Simply put – we rent out (and sell) electric bikes. Our customers can experience the joys of electric biking with WEDGETAIL's flexible rental options, starting from just $4 per day. We believe in letting our customers truly appreciate the value of our bikes through long term rentals (1week / 30-day rental options), which is why we offer our unique low rates. In addition, if the customer chooses to purchase one of our bikes, what they pay in rental is taken off the cost of the bike. This way, you get to try our bikes hassle-free before making a commitment. Or don’t make a commitment – join our member group and be a seasonal rider. Just rent our bikes when it suits you.. Our key focus is to change life habits for the better.   The WEDGETAIL Difference: Join us in our mission to transform the way we commute, get healthy, and explore our surroundings. Discover the freedom and joy of electric biking without the burden of ownership. Experience the WEDGETAIL Difference today! As per usual, folowing Breytan's talk, there will be loads of time for questions, fellowship and the opportunity to socialise with your fellow Sheddies. Our concept is to provide an informative talk for these social gatherings which will stimulate social discourse. One of the continuing themes which keeps coming up in the feedback from our members is that they want to know more about their fellow Sheddies. So here is another opportunity for you to engage with your fellow Sheddies and get a better understanding of the massive amount of expertise we have within our membership. The Shed is endevouring to promote the social aspects and benefits of belonging to our Shed and so your Shed shall subsidise the cost of the nibbles for this event. Drinks are available at normal Shed pricing. So come along, be educated, be inquisitive, be engaged and be social by enjoying the company of your fellow Sheddies at this Sundowner. Best regards Peter Panek President

Understanding the aged care sysem and how to access funding for the right care. None of us want to think about needing care, but the reality is, some of us will need it to stay in our homes as long as possible Rosie Macdonald is a Registered Nurse who works for Hendercare in WA.  Hendercare has been providing aged care services supporting older Austrlaians since 2004.  Rosie will discuss Home Care Packages and the Commonwealth Home Support Program.  She will explain the options available and what people need to think about when deciding to get services that allow you to live at home for longer. Rosie works with clients who are ineligible for government-funded packages and opt to pay privately, helping them to establish their support needs and set up an individaul plan to meet their goals. If you have ever wondered how the aged care funding system works and what it might cost to stay at home as you get older, then this session is a must.

Following close behind will probably be a talk by our very own Simon Benwell ,talking on Oil Field Developement, and will be held a couple of weeks later, probably on Wednesday 6th September. I also have a line up of two additional guest speakers to follow on from SImon. However, as I shall be overseas for 2 months, I need a Sheddie to step forward to organise the event including drinks and nibbles and to man the bar. Do I have any takers? Just contact me if you are interested. Best regards Peter Panek ___________________________________________________________________________     We are back for our next Beer and Bullshit event on Wednesday 2nd August. Continuing with the Theme of discovering the expertise of our own shed members, this event will host our very own Sheddie, Michael Wilson. Michael will break down the very complex area of exploration so that the non technical person will have a much better understanding of the world of petroleum exploration. Petroleum products are an integral part of our everyday lives and since their inception from the late 1800's have massively contributed to the affluent lifestyle we enjoy today. Namely, cheap energy and petroleum byproducts (plastics, medicines etc.) enable us to enjoy a life far ahead of our parents and their parents. However very few people are aware of the huge complexity of searching for and producing these hydrocarbons. It is a very risky and very expensive business and for the lucky or the very smart can be a very profitable business. Some of this complexity will be shown today. As per usual, folowing Michaels's talk, there will be loads of time for questions, fellowship and the opportunity to socialise with your fellow Sheddies. Supervisor Training
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Hi Sheddies The thing that keeps our SHed operating for all members to enjoy is the fact that we have a cohort of regular Supervisors at the Shed every day. Our Supervisors open the SHed and get everything ready for the day's operations and at the end of the day they lock up the Shed. Superviosors are on hand to talk to members of the public who wander in looking for information or who have jobs they would like to have completed. Now that people are able to travel again, the Shed is in need of more volunteers to become a  Shed Supervisor. The role is not difficukt, but it is essential. If we do not have a supervisor on duty, then the Shed has to close due to insurance requirements. Hence, we are going to hold a Supervisor training event next week and would encourage anyone who would like to help out in this vital role to come along to receive the necessary training. There are usually experienced Sheddies on hand to help out on most occassions, so don't feel as if you will be left without support. I look forward to seeing you at the training session and am happy to take any questions you may have. Best regards Peter Panek President
